PRODUCT SPECIFICATION & PROCUREMENT

SDS Max Drill Bits

AXIMET's SDS Max drill-bit range uses a 40Cr steel body and a TCT tip for masonry and concrete drilling. Single-tip and cross-tip options are listed. Select the diameter and length for the hole, then match the tool to your SDS Max rotary hammer and its permitted drilling capacity.

Construction and Interface

Holder interfaceSDS Max
Application scopeMasonry and concrete drilling; selection depends on the tool, substrate and machine

The shank, flute length and tip form are part of the complete drill specification. Choose them with the diameter instead of treating all tools in a length range as the same configuration.

Diameter and Length Options

Choose the hole diameter and required working depth, then check the length against the drilling position and rotary hammer. Overall length includes the shank and is not the hole depth. The range table separates flute length from overall length so these dimensions can be specified independently.

These are listed range limits, rather than a list of every intermediate size. Send the exact diameters, lengths and tip forms needed for an itemised quotation.

Match the Bit to an SDS Max Rotary Hammer

SDS Max and SDS Plus are different holder interfaces. Use an SDS Max bit with a compatible holder and follow the rotary hammer manufacturer's limits for diameter, length and operation.

The machine also needs enough access and working clearance for the chosen tool. Include the hammer model when selecting a longer bit or replacing a tool from a different length series. The SDS Plus vs SDS Max guide explains the interface distinction.

Specify the Hole Depth and Substrate

Overall length includes the shank, so it is not the usable hole depth. State the required hole depth separately from flute length and overall length. This matters when working through thicker sections or where the machine has limited clearance.

Identify the masonry or concrete and note any reinforcement. A masonry and concrete application listing does not mean that every bit is approved to drill through reinforcing steel. Follow the exact tool and machine instructions for the workpiece.

Select the Tip Form for the Ordered Size

Single-tip and cross-tip forms are separate choices in the range. State the required construction alongside each diameter and length. When replacing an existing tool, include its model, drawing or a clear head photograph to help identify the configuration.

The exact cutter geometry and permission to drill reinforcement depend on the specific tool. A cross-tip description alone does not establish a four-cutter head or a reinforcing-steel drilling rating.

TECHNICAL & BUYER FAQ

SDS Max Drill Bit FAQs

Will an SDS Max Bit Fit an SDS Plus Holder?

The interfaces are different and are not interchangeable. Match the bit to the holder specified by the rotary hammer manufacturer.

Is Flute Length the Same as Overall Length?

No. Overall length includes the shank. Flute length describes a different part of the drill, and the usable drilling depth must also follow the instructions for the exact bit and machine.

Are All Diameters Available with Both Tip Forms?

The range lists single-tip and cross-tip options, but the range limits do not identify every tip-and-size combination. Include the required tip form with each exact diameter and length in your enquiry.

Can These Bits Drill Through Reinforcement?

The range is listed for masonry and concrete. Drilling through reinforcing steel requires specific tool and machine approval; it should not be assumed from a TCT tip or cross-tip description.

Is an SDS Max Chisel the Same as an SDS Max Drill Bit?

No. A drill bit makes a round hole; a chisel removes or shapes material using a different operation. Both can use the SDS Max holder system, but the attachment must match the machine's permitted operating mode. Select the tool form and mode together rather than treating a matching shank as approval for either operation.

What Should an SDS Max Drill-Bit Enquiry Include?

Send the hole diameter and depth, desired flute and overall lengths, tip form, hammer model and substrate. List quantities by size and include any packaging requirements.
