GRMA GRMB Series · R087

When a graphite electrode has a recessed feature with a specified corner radius, the cutting profile and tool clearance both matter. Compare AXIMET’s GRMA and GRMB models by cutter diameter, corner radius and effective length before selecting the tool for your order.
A long-reach corner radius end mill combines a radiused cutting corner with a neck geometry intended to reach a recessed feature. Use the part drawing to determine the radius and required depth, then compare the catalogue drawing and model row with the available space.
The catalogue lists 26 GRMA and GRMB model records. The listed GRMA models have two flutes; the listed GRMB models have four. Compare the cutting diameter, corner radius, flute length, effective length, overall length and shank diameter on the individual row before quoting.
Models with the same cutter diameter can have different corner radii or effective lengths. Do not substitute one for another without checking the component drawing and the intended holder. For a mixed assortment, list each complete model code and quantity separately.
For example, GRMA100601A and GRMA100801A have the same listed cutting diameter, corner radius and flute length, but different effective lengths. Check the drawing and holder clearance before choosing between them.
Begin with the required depth, opening and sidewall geometry. A tool can have sufficient overall length but still interfere with the workpiece or holder at the entrance. Check clearance over the whole path, including the deepest point and any nearby walls or fixtures.
The catalogue identifies flute length (Lc), effective length (L1) and overall length (L) as separate dimensions. Flute length refers to the fluted cutting section. Effective length follows the reference points shown on the drawing; it is not automatically the length of cutting edge. Overall length is the entire tool, and does not by itself establish usable reach.
Where more than one length can access the feature, consider the shortest suitable projection for the intended operation. Share the cavity section and holder arrangement if clearance is difficult to establish from a model table alone.
A corner radius tool has a radius at the outer corner of its cutting end. It differs from a ball-nose end mill, whose rounded profile extends across the end. A matching diameter does not mean the two profiles will produce the same feature.
For a graphite electrode step or recessed transition, compare the cutter radius to the part’s specified geometry and the programmed path. If the component calls for a sharp internal corner, check whether the selected radius is acceptable or whether a separate operation is needed. For standard-access work, compare reach and dimensions with the standard graphite corner-radius range. For rounded contours, compare the graphite ball-nose range instead of substituting based on diameter alone.
Provide the GRMA or GRMB model, quantity per item, graphite application, feature depth, holder and machine details. Include the part drawing and any requirements for samples, packing, labels or documentation. For a repeat order, keep the approved model and drawing revision on the purchase record.
Identify the dimensions and edge features important to sample acceptance. Review tool fit in the intended holder and machining setup. Graphite dust should be managed using extraction and handling arrangements appropriate for the machine and facility.

Use the GRMA and GRMB rows to select a cutter diameter and corner radius, then compare the drawing with the required reach.

It is considered for graphite features requiring both a radiused cutting corner and access into a recessed area. The chosen model must match the part geometry and setup.
The corner-radius tool has a radius at the outer corner of its cutting end; a ball-nose tool has a rounded end profile. Compare the toolpath and required feature before substituting one.
No. The catalogue shows effective length and flute length separately. Use the dimension drawing to identify each reference and check access along the full assembly.
Start with the part’s diameter and corner-radius needs, then compare flute length, effective length and shank diameter on each model row. Include the drawing and machine setup in your inquiry.
No. Choose enough reach to clear the feature and fixture; unnecessary projection can change the setup’s rigidity. Check the tool and holder as an assembly.
