KB Series · R078

Select a ball nose end mill for titanium by the contour, cutting diameter and access your job requires. The KB series has a rounded cutting end and two flutes, with individual model dimensions for building a repeatable tooling assortment.
A ball nose end mill presents a rounded cutting profile to the programmed surface. A square end mill for titanium can also be programmed for some three-dimensional work, but its contact geometry and toolpath requirements differ. For titanium components, start with the surface drawing and the space around the feature, then select the KB model that fits the planned holder and toolpath.
The catalog lists 23 KB models. The specification table provides the cutting diameter, radius, flute length, overall length, shank diameter and flute count for each model. Use the product drawing alongside the table when comparing tools.
The ball radius describes the rounded tool end; it is not the corner radius of a flat-ended bull-nose cutter. A larger ball can follow a different path and produce a different surface pattern. Check the radius against the part geometry instead of selecting by diameter alone.
Shank options can differ even when cutter diameter matches. Keep the complete model code, radius and holder size together in your quotation request.
For a curved cavity, consider the contour depth, the opening around the tool and the position of clamps and holders. Compare flute length with the operation, then check overall tool length and holder projection against the setup. Do not treat total length as a guarantee of usable reach.
When the cutting contact is near the tip, the effective cutting diameter can be smaller than the nominal diameter. This changes the local cutting speed at a given spindle speed. For contouring, provide the relevant contact and engagement conditions rather than selecting speed from nominal diameter alone. Use the tool and machine supplier’s guidance for the specific material and operation.
Send the titanium grade and condition, the contour or feature drawing, and whether the tool is being selected for finishing or another operation. Include the machine, holder and coolant arrangement used by the customer. These details help identify the constraints that may not appear in a simple diameter list.
For distribution orders, group models by the sizes required by the customer and indicate quantities per item. If a tool is intended for a replacement order, provide the current model or drawing dimensions rather than relying on appearance.
A ball nose tool has a rounded end across the cutting profile. A square-end cutter is used for nominally flat floors and straight shoulders; a corner-radius cutter combines a flat end with rounded outer corners. Compare the required geometry and toolpath before choosing a replacement.
Identify the ball profile, cutting diameter, shank and lengths that are important to your receiving checks. Share the drawing revision and any sample, identification or packaging requirements with the RFQ. For repeat orders, keep the same model and agreed specification on the purchase record.
For a different feature profile, compare the square end mill for titanium and corner radius end mill for titanium against the same part drawing.

Review the KB ball radius, diameter and length dimensions when selecting a cutter for your titanium contour.

It can be selected for curved profiles, contours and three-dimensional features. Suitability depends on the titanium grade, model, feature and machine setup.
Compare the ball radius, flute length, overall length and shank diameter against the part and holder requirements.
The catalog identifies the listed KB series as two-flute. Review the individual model row for its other dimensions.
Compare the ball profile and radius, diameter, flute length, overall length and shank against the existing tool drawing. Ask for a trial if the material grade, holder or toolpath differs.
