NRD Series · R015

Choose a six-flute corner radius cutter by the geometry and dimensions your application requires. AXIMET’s NRD catalog series lists individual models for buyers who need a clear diameter, radius and shank specification for each order line.
A corner radius end mill combines a substantially flat cutting end with radiused outer corners. The radius must suit the feature on the component drawing; cutter diameter, cutting length and shank diameter must also match the operation and toolholder.
The NRD series contains 18 catalog model records, all listed with six flutes. Each row identifies cutting diameter, corner radius, flute length, overall length and shank diameter. Compare the complete row rather than treating every diameter and radius as an available combination.
For example, NRD0605 and NRD0605L list the same cutter diameter and corner radius with different overall lengths. When a buyer requires a specific projection or machine clearance, that length must remain attached to the model number.
Corner radius. Check the required part geometry and any machining allowance. A radius at the cutter's outside corner influences the floor-to-wall transition; it is not the same tool form as a fully rounded ball nose.
Cutting length. Compare the listed flute length with the required wall height and axial engagement. A longer flute is not automatically the right choice if the setup does not require it.
Shank and overall length. Match the shank to the holder and check clearance around the workpiece. Keep the tool's overall length separate from its cutting length.
Flute count. The listed NRD models use six flutes. Consider the workpiece, engagement, chip evacuation and machine setup when deciding whether that geometry suits the application.
A square end mill, a ball nose end mill and a corner radius end mill can share a diameter while producing different feature geometry. Compare the square end mill and corner radius end mill ranges against the part drawing before substituting a tool. Select the NRD series by its listed geometry and the application's actual conditions. A roughing cutter is another comparison when the order concerns stock removal: its cutting-edge geometry and suitability depend on the specific tool. Compare the operation, workpiece and tool drawings rather than assuming that every six-flute or radiused cutter is a roughing cutter.
To request a quotation, provide model codes and quantity per item, or send the required diameter, radius, lengths and shank size with a drawing. Include the workpiece, operation, holder, delivery destination and any sample requirements.
For sample approval, identify the dimensions, edge condition and drawing revision that matter to the order. Include any requested labeling, packaging or inspection documentation so it can be reviewed with the selected items.

Review each NRD model by diameter, corner radius and shank size before preparing your order list.

Not necessarily. NRD is listed here as a six-flute corner radius series; “roughing” describes an intended machining task and may involve a different cutting-edge design. Compare the tool drawings, workpiece and machining operation before substituting one for the other.
It defines the rounded transition at the cutter's outer corner. Match it to the feature and toolpath required by the part drawing.
Only after checking the resulting feature. A square end and a radiused corner have different profiles and may leave different geometry.
Compare the listed cutting diameter and corner radius first, then check flute length, overall length and shank diameter against the part and holder. Select the complete model code, not diameter alone.
No. Suitability depends on the material, engagement, chip clearance, machine and toolpath. Review the complete application before selecting the model.
